We believe God makes this mission clear to us, and all local churches, through scripture (Matthew 5:14-16, Matthew 28:18-20). From this we see clearly that the local church is not merely a building or a provider of Christian goods and services or even friendly group of people who share an interest in religious things1. Rather, the church is God’s appointed means through which He is reconciling a lost people to Himself.
The church is utterly unique, called and empowered by God and we cannot fulfill our purpose or understand our identity apart from God's calling. For that reason it is absolutely vital we comprehend who we are and to whom we belong.
At Redemption Church we strive to be a people who proclaim God’s glory by being a faithful witness of the Gospel to the world around us. The work of the church is to make disciples who observe and obey all that Christ commands and equip them for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12).
As we are faithful in the mission God has given us our ministry will always be marked by these activities. We will be a people who are continually building [equipping for the work of the ministry], reaching [proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ] and multiplying [reproducing disciples and churches].
